Taking Health Supplements - Is it a Scam?
Hi mojo friends would like to share with you guys something else apart from stock or forex trading today. 3 months ago, my wife told me to take this health supplement called "4life transfer factor plus advanced". when i first heard it, i just told her the name is too long for me to like the product. and later i found out it is sold under some sort of MLM scheme which made me further dislike the product. to me once a product is sold under MLM scheme, it makes it harder to tell when someone recommends it to you, it is truly because the product is effective or because of the commission that they can earn. few weeks later, i saw a chinese medicine doctor who told me that i should be taking health supplement to boost my immune system since i travel a lot....and guess what, he also recommends i take 4life transfer factor plus advanced. i thought what the heck since everyone is telling me to take it, may as well just buy one bottle la and try it out. i also went to the company website www.4life.com to read up and the company claims that the product can boost up immune system by showing some impressive chart to "convince" would be consumers. i have since been taking 4life transfer factor for 3 months now.....and to tell you the truth, i do not feel any change to my well being at all !! and the funny thing is, my dad today recommended me another health supplement called beta glucan which is supposed to also boost immune system. one of the top companies selling beta glucan is transfer point and at least they are not MLM like 4life. i decided it's about time i do more research from independent websites about 4life transfer factor and also beta glucan. interestly, when i google with 4life transfer factor....the auto complete for google showed up this phrase "4life transfer factor scam" and i decided to click on some of the links (i really love google search man): http://briandeer.com/wakefield/transfer-factor.htm Brian Deer is an independent jounalist who likes to expose potential scams related to the medical industry. In his site, Brian claimed that he was ejected from a conference when he asked someone promoting transfer factor about certain claims they made. Brian also highlighted that one of the so-called pioneers for transfer factor called Hugh Fudenberg who was banned in November 1995 from prescribing. http://www.casewatch.org/fdawarning/...04/4life.shtml US FDA site showing that in 2004, they issued warning letter to 4life for making certain unsubstantiated claims which may have violated the Health Act. by the way, Brian also exposed the scandals regarding prescribed antibiotics such as Bactrim, Septra, Septrin, Apo-Sulfatrim, SMZ-TMP and co-trimoxazole which may do more harm than good to us. Goto Brian site to read more here http://briandeer.com/bactrim-septra.htm I think I have said enough today, moral of the story is : 1. Do not believe what others tell you completely, including doctors, best friends, do your own research 2. Be wary when a product is sold through MLM, high chance it may be super-overpriced for what its' worth. 3. Americans are really great at marketing, they can invent terms like "transfer factor" making it hard to understand and brand it as a premium product since there is no comparison Since i still have 2 more bottles left of the super expensive 4life transfer factor, i will have finish it anyway. In the mean time, i will start doing some research on the next supplement i plan to try called beta glucan....... ![]() rooney p/s: if u have any experience taking 4life transfer factor or beta glucan do share it here |
